All you need to know about newly launch Honda Cliq.

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India have recently launched the all new utility scooter - Cliq in the India market which is essentially a technical cousin of the Honda Navi. Since the Navi became quite a hit when it was introduced last year, the Cliq is expected to follow the same success route as the Indian scooter market is booming like never before. Cliq scooter shares the same concept with its monkey bike cousin and will be manufactured in Honda’s Tapukara plant situated in Rajasthan. It was launched at a price tag of Rs 42,499 (Ex-showroom, Delhi) which makes it just a thousand bucks costlier than the Navi but still the most affordable scooter in the entire scooter line-up from Honda. It boasts off unconventional looks and it appeals to a very broad set of audience being an affordable utility based scooter in India.  

The Cliq comes with the same engine as seen on its cousin which is 109cc fan cooled, 4-stroke, SI engine that delivers 8bhp of maximum power and 8.9 Nm of peak torque. The engine comes mated to a V- Matic transmission that ensures maximum convenience in the daily stop and go city traffic. The engine is obviously BSIV compliant and the company claims a top speed of 83kmph which is decent considering it is a utility scooter. It is the same engine which Honda uses in its entire 110cc range and hence is one of the most trusted 110cc scooter engines in the country. It is offered as HET (Honda Eco Technology) power plant that makes sure that the scooter delivers best mileage figures irrespective of the riding conditions.

Like all scooters, Cliq offers a decent under seat storage and there is also a luggage carrier on the rear steel bar grab rail for utilitarian purposes. It also comes with Honda trusted CBS (Combi-brake system) technology that ensures maximum safety under tricky braking situations. The scooter is also offered with AHO (automatic headlamps ON) feature as the government of India has made it mandatory for all the vehicle selling after 1^st April 2017 to have standard AHO feature, along with a couple of other mandataries. The under storage boot on the Cliq also offers a mobile charging socket as an add-on. Cliq scooter comes with 10-inch steel wheels with block pattern tubeless CEAT tyres that have been designed to best ride as per rugged Indian conditions.  

The scooter can hold up to 3.5L of fuel at once which is again equivalent to the fuel tank capacity on the Navi. In terms of overall weight, Cliq weighs around 102kgs and comprises of 154mm ground clearance which is not very high keeping the average Indian riding conditions in mind.

At Rs 42,499, the scooter directly competes against some of the very well selling scooters in the Indian market such as Suzuki Let’s, Hero Pleasure and TVS Pep+. The Suzuki Let’s starts at Rs 47,756 while the Hero Pleasure is priced at Rs 46,405.
